Our official Open Day, held on October 15th 2025, was a true milestone for the uReach team and a moment of immense pride. It genuinely felt like a "pinch me" moment to finally unveil our brand-new facility and share our vision for specialist Alternative Provision with the local community.

Thank you to every single person who joined us and helped make the day such a success!

Amazing Attendance & Community Commitment

The energy and support from the local education community were overwhelming. We were thrilled to welcome representatives from over 30 schools across the Wokingham and Reading areas. This phenomenal turnout underscores the critical need for high-quality, dedicated SEND provision for primary-aged children in the borough, and the desire among professionals to find effective solutions.

The event kicked off with a celebratory welcome of Prosecco on arrival, followed by a brief talk and thank you from the uReach leadership team. It was an opportunity to speak to, and connect with, so many dedicated schools, SENCOs, and parents. Hearing your challenges and sharing our solutions in person was incredibly valuable.

A Space Reborn: Calming, Creative, and Compliant

The biggest highlight of the day was seeing the reaction to the centre's remarkable transformation. The building, which had stood as a disused office for years, is now an incredibly bright, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed space for young people.

It was all hands on deck to prepare the site, with the wider uGroup team from uSports and uKids joining us to ensure the event ran smoothly as well as family and friends from the uReach leadership team!

The Expert Seal of Approval

We were incredibly proud to welcome our Consultant Advisor, Mandy Wilton, who saw the finished site for the very first time on the Open Day. Mandy, whose impressive experience in specialist education has been massively fundamental in the whole development of uReach, gave the centre her absolute seal of approval. Seeing the journey from initial walk-around to the vibrant, ready-to-use centre led to a few genuine "leaky eyes" - a heartfelt thank you to Mandy for her immense support and endorsement!

Making Headlines

The positive changes and community impact of the centre did not go unnoticed! We were delighted to be featured on ITV Meridian News following the event, showcasing the fantastic new space and our mission.

A special thank you to Steph Hiscox for representing uReach so passionately in the ITV feature. Thank you as well to Ali Sinfield from Robert Piggott Junior School, who has been a big supporter of uReach and spoke so eloquently about the critical role that Alternative Provision plays in supporting young people.

Building on this local momentum, we were also thrilled to host our local MP, Yuan Yang, shortly after the Open Day to see the transformation firsthand and discuss vital topics like SEND funding and support in the borough.
